Programme Overview

The B.Sc. Economics at SKAUP University of Business and Technology (SUBT) provides students with the analytical and problem-solving skills needed to understand and address economic issues affecting individuals, businesses, and nations. The programme explores microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, development economics, international trade, and policy analysis, equipping graduates to thrive as economists, analysts, and decision-makers in diverse sectors.

Through SUBT’s Open and Distance Learning (ODL) model, students enjoy flexible and technology-enabled learning, complemented by research projects, case studies, and policy simulations. With access to the SKAUP Innovation Centre (SKAUP-IC), students also gain entrepreneurial and applied skills to translate economic knowledge into innovative business and policy solutions.

Course Modules

The program spans four years, progressing from procurement basics to advanced strategies and innovations. It combines general studies, core procurement modules, and electives, with applied learning via SKAUP-IC. Sample modules include:

Entry Requirements

100-Level (UTME) Entry: Five O’Level credits (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects, at not more than two sittings. JAMB UTME is not required for initial application, but must be regularised post-admission for NYSC eligibility.

200-Level (Direct Entry): ND/HND (≥ Lower Credit) in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields; or two A-Level passes in Mathematics, Physics (or equivalent). International applicants require equivalent qualifications and an IELTS score of 6.0 (or an approved equivalent).

Bridging & Access: Where gaps exist, foundation/CPD pathways are available, with admissions aligned to NUC guidelines and SUBT’s equity commitments.
